What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?
by flipper ini'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

Should the GB be in the Dock at the International Criminal Court ?
by wobble init would seem that if rape or sexual slavery is condoned by a government or de facto authority, then such persons, i.e the head or heads, of a government, or heads of "authorities" are seemingly guilty of a crime against humanity, for which they could stand trial before the court.. it would need to be proved that acts of sexual abuse were not sporadic, but part of a wide practice known to the authority and in effect, unpunished, by covering up the crime, and allowing the perpetrator/s to offend again.. the recent case in hull, u.k is of this nature, it would need to be shown too that such cover-ups had gone on since 2002 when the international criminal court was set up.. i think the gb, as ultimate authority in the wt/jw organization deserve to be in the dock just as much as the pope does, for the same reasons.. what do you think ?.

cantleave,
I apologize that was not a proper answer. I don't wish to justify my position totally.
As I said "probably" not the Pope. I am not 100% sure. I'm not well informed as to the whole of the matter. As I'm not Catholic and never have been whereas I was raised as a JW and spent many years in the organization I feel in a better position to agree that the responsibility lies with the GB.

Do you think it's possible being a witness can kill a person?
by The Finger ina close relative of mine just before he died claimed it was being a witness that was partially responsible for his death (leaving aside the blood issue).

Thank you for your comments.
I feel it has alot to do with how you view the organization. Once at a meeting with some of the elders one expressed the view of the organization being our mother and my going against her. Something we wouldn't want to do.
I always believed faith was the "assured" expectation of the things hoped for though not beheld. My relative also held this view. We were assured by this "Mother" that God's promise was the generation that saw 1914 would not pass away before the fulfillment of Matthew 24 and the End.
The view was that this generation had to be of an age of discernment. This was stretched to being alive at the time. This "Mother" also took the position of giving out the food at the proper time.
To me and to my relative it seemed a lack of faith if you did not trust in God's organization and his promises explained by them. In so believing in these promises it then affects all of the decisions you make in life in order to live with your faith. Some of these decisions meant, that with a much larger time frame involved than was promised by the "Mother", great hardship, loss, suffering and depression have been experienced. As if you'd paid into a pension only to find on retirement your fund was empty. Some cannot take it.
